Summary

Are you an experienced Project Controls professional with a strong background in Department of Energy (DOE) projects? We are seeking a Senior Project Controls Engineer (Project Controls IV) to join our team and support our DOE client and their important mission. This role requires a deep understanding of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), cost engineering, planning, scheduling, and broad project controls knowledge in the context of DOE projects.


This position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of twelve (12) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. If you have a proven track record in this field, are ready to take on significant and complex issues and provide Project Controls leadership then we want to hear from you.


Location/Travel:

This is a 100% on site role in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Per Diem and relocation support are available.


Duties and responsibilities could include:

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Lead cost estimating, analysis, and control functions for complex and non-routine projects.
  • Supervise planning and scheduling activities, ensuring accurate development, monitoring, and maintenance of project schedules.
  • Analyze project cost and schedule trends, providing early identification of issues for management attention.
  • Guide and oversee the preparation of cost engineering and planning deliverables.
  • Utilize independent judgment and a high degree of technical acumen to drive strategic project outcomes.
  • Support project administration and organizational activities.
  • Develop and implement advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories.
  • Lead or provide expert support in Control Account Management (CAM), including budget planning, cost tracking, corrective actions, and performance reporting.


Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of project controls experience
  • 5+ years of DOE experience
  • Expert level knowledge of Primavera P6 and Deltek Cobra
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis.
  • Experience in cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis.
  • Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Proficiency in using personal computer operating systems and multiple discipline-specific software applications.


Beneficial Experiences:

  • Relevant credentials from the PMI, AACE or equivalent
  • Knowledge of engineering and/or construction management acquired through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Subject matter expertise and proven experience with engineering functions and principles required to understand, implement, and monitor technical projects.
  • Expert level knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and processes.


Salary: $100 / hr, 1099 contract. Per diem and relocation support are available.
