Summary

CONNECT to End Violence Programming Manager

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the CONNECT to End Violence Division Director, this full-time position develops, facilitates, expands and oversees the programming of CONNECT. The Programming Manager works independently and coordinates programming with the Child and Family Services Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator to provide education, prevention, awareness-building and training programming of CONNECT. The Programming Manager works collaboratively with the Clinical Services Manager and Family Services Manager to create and facilitate relevant support groups for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their supports. This position is part of the CONNECT management team and supervises the Community Advocate and the Men’s Initiative Specialist. The Programming Manager fulfills the responsibilities of a domestic violence and rape crisis counselor by providing supportive counseling, advocacy, crisis intervention, and case management services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence through intensive, comprehensive, and culturally competent services. Must possess the skills needed to lead and supervise others, understand and implement budget and funder requirements, build relationships, provide workshops, participate in the development of public awareness campaigns, and maintain relationships with local organizations.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions (essential functions*)

  • Develop and coordinate CONNECT programming*:
    • Make decisions surrounding funder and budget requirements in order to fulfill contract expectations
    • Facilitate, coordinate, and oversee culturally-relevant services and programming; including on evenings and weekends as needed
    • Provide outreach and assessment of need to the community and service providers
    • Provide supervision and oversight of staff and interns
    • Collaborate with service providers within MV Community Services and outside of the agency for inclusive and accessible programming
    • Adhere to all funder, agency, program policies and procedures, including confidentiality policy
    • Travel to and attend meetings and trainings on and off island
  • Design education, awareness and prevention programming in all island schools*:
    • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with island school contacts and other school system providers
    • Develop, schedule and facilitate programming for grades 4-12 with goal of K-12
    • Train, coordinate, oversee co-facilitators/staff
    • Update and enhance Healthy Relationships curriculum
    • Identify and implement research-based and evidence-based prevention programming
    • Report out effectiveness, impact, successes, and barriers of programming
    • Independently compile data and complete designated reports
  • Provide training for service providers*:
    • Through collaboration with community partners and service providers, identify training topics
    • Design training curriculum using measurable objectives and review feedback from participants
    • Schedule and facilitate training sessions for community partners and service partners
    • Attend meetings with service providers to assess training needs and develop appropriate training tools, curriculum, and resources for providers
  • Provides management-level participation in CONNECT programming*:
    • Facilitate monthly programming meeting with program management
    • Make budgetary decision around programming needs
    • Model healthy and professional workplace dynamics for all staff
    • Serve as designee for division director for certain events and programming
  • Act as the point person for CONNECT collaborations and programming*:
    • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate culturally-relevant programming, education, prevention and training opportunities within MV Community Services and the island community
    • Create and distribute monthly programming overview calendars and summaries for the CONNECT team, MV Community Services, and the community
    • Collaborate with team members to create and distribute flyers, social media posts, and emails regarding programming opportunities
    • Monitor progress and execution of programming develop opportunities to communicate with involved parties
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of a trained Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Counselor*:
    • Provide supportive and advocacy services for survivors and secondary survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in accordance with M.G.L. ch 233 sec 20j and 20k in-person, at approved off-site locations, and via phone/virtual technology
    • Facilitate traditional and non-traditional support groups and workshops for survivors and secondary survivors
    • Fulfill 24 Hour Crisis Hotline coverage through safety assessment and coordination of services during business hours, evenings and nights, and during weekends as assigned
    • Maintain complete and accurate records and statistics as required by funding sources
    • Participate in schedule team meetings on a weekly and monthly basis
    • Participate in Quality Management Team Working Groups/ Performance Improvement Teams
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, psychology, and/or related fields or equivalent lived experience
  • Possess experience facilitating programming and developing curriculum
  • Robust ability to multi-task and adapt to change in a complex and sensitive environment both independently and as part of a team
  • Possess and actively practice expert communication skills, compassion, empathy, patience, discretion, confidentiality, integrity and professionalism
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of the dynamics and causes of domestic violence and sexual assault and a commitment to end gender-based violence as a social issue
  • Possess acute critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Work effectively with persons who have diverse styles, abilities, motivations and backgrounds
  • Demonstrate excellent organization skills and follow-through
  • Work a variety of schedules depending on the needs of the program
  • Complete training (25 hours domestic violence and 35 hours sexual violence) as required by MGL c. 233 s. 20J and 20K to protect client records and to provide direct services as a trained domestic violence and rape crisis counselor within the first nine months of employment.
