Department Technology & Information Services Budget Title Lead Programmer / Analyst Local Title Programmer Proposed Posting Date Classification SL-3 Duties Administrative Computing, part of IT/Computer Services at the State University of New York at New Paltz, invites applications for the position of Programmer. This is a full-time position focusing on supporting our student information system, related third party software and reporting/analytical initiatives. This role will involve writing code, troubleshooting issues, creating documentation, and implementing software solutions to support the administrative offices of the University. Responsibilities * Design, code, and support custom software solutions to assist administrative departments * Troubleshoot issues and answer questions regarding our student information system and related software * Develop and maintain data synchronization processes between our student information system and third party software * Develop and maintain custom reports and analytic solutions * Continue expanding our datamart initiatives by adding new datasets * Assist in improving team efficiency through tooling and common data structures * Document processes and procedures * For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas. Qualifications Required: * Bachelor's degree and three years of experience or Associate's degree and five years of experience. * Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, PHP, Java, C#, JavaScript, Ruby, etc. * Proficiency in querying relational databases with SQL * Familiarity with a report writing tool such as Argos, Cognos, Tableau, etc. * Experience with Git * Excellent problem solving skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred: * Experience working in a higher education environment * Experience working with Ellucian Banner * Experience working with Ellucian Degree Works * Experience with Oracle PL/SQL * Experience with Python * Experience consuming RESTful web services * Familiarity with Linux Special Instructions to Applicants Electronic submissions required.
