Summary

Minimum qualification

  • Preferred - 3y Degree/ equivalent diploma

Working Experience

  • Preferred - Minimum of 7 years’ experience managing Programs end to end
  • Preferred - Minimum 7 years' managing projects end to end using PMBOK/PRINCE2/AGILE
  • Agile methodologies is essential.
  • Experience in managing complex/cross functional Programs that includes extensive Go To Market activities
  • Experience as Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer role for at least two years with a software development team that were applying SAFE principles, practices, and theory.
  • Experience in taking products to market is essential

Technical Qualification

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • PMI Agile-Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Agile Project Management (AgilePM) Foundation
  • An advantage - Release train engineer

Responsibilities

  • Planning and designing the overall Program and proactively, monitoring its progress against predefined metrics and milestones, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action
  • In most cases the Program manager is also responsible for the actual delivery of projects in accordance with the department methodology and to ensure that these sub-projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget, adhering to the department project delivery methodology
  • Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the Program - focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the Program, and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other Programs and corporate, technical and specialist standards
  • Facilitating a weekly program sync session and ensuring that all project blockers/impediments are resolved timeously
  • Fostering a weekly PM Community of Practice session, to ensure PM adherence to the departments governance and clean audits are proactively managed
  • Establishing and managing the Programs budget (if required), monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the Program progresses
  • Assisting with the interviewing and appointment of individuals to project teams
  • Ensuring the delivery of new products or services from projects is to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the Program plan and Program governance arrangements
  • Ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the Program’s individual projects are up to date according to an established resource demand plan
  • Managing third party dependencies and deliveries contributing to the Program
  • Managing overall program health and ensure regular and timeous communications with all stakeholders
  • Managing all dependencies between all the projects within a Program.
  • Managing risks to ensure the Program’s successful outcome.
  • Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the Program are identified, or issues arise
  • Reporting the progress of the Program as per the department governance and sponsor specific requirements
  • Preparation and facilitation of all Steering Committee, ManCo and other Governance meeting presentations as and when required.
  • Ultimately responsible for the successful delivery of the Program end-to-end
  • Collaborating with the change manager or equivalent on the transition to standard business operations.
  • Working with Agile teams and stakeholders to drive adoption and training, ensuring they are using the Agile methodologies, and helping them understand the values and principles of Agile
  • Monitoring project progress and performance, providing periodic program level progress reports and dashboards to key stakeholders
  • Managing and resolving conflicts, challenges and obstacles that may occur during the program lifecycle
