Summary

Title: Program Support Technician State Role Title: Administrative and Office Specialist III / 19013 Hiring Range: $18.50 per hour Pay Band: 3 Agency: Virginia Employment Commission Location: Adjudication West Agency Website: Recruitment Type: General Public - G This is a non-exempt, hourly position without benefits, eligible to work up to 1,500 hours annually (May 1 - April 30). Job Duties Provides administrative and programmatic support duties to Adjudication staff to address (UI) Unemployment Insurance claims and meet business needs; assigns workload to Adjudication deputy staff; processes First Level appeal and Commission appeals decisions; responds to and investigates inquiries from claimants, employers, staff, and the public to provide information and/or resolve problems or issues regarding UI benefits; provides administrative support for Adjudication Unit; and ensures agency records are effectively managed. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of basic insurance rules and regulations; interviewing techniques; and office operations, equipment and etiquette. Strong customer service, oral and written communication, and computer skills (experience using Microsoft Office and/or similar software). Ability to interact effectively with employers, clients and the public; discuss, interpret and apply agency standards and procedures; conduct interviews and research; use web-based applications to enter data and conduct database searches; and adapt to changing priorities and workload. Additional Considerations Working knowledge of the Unemployment Compensation Act and rules and regulations related to Unemployment Insurance. Knowledge of the UI claims process and experience providing customer service, conducting interviews, and/or processing claims.
