PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Hiring range: $23.81 - $29.76/hour

The Program Specialist plans, develops, coordinates, gathers statistics, and processes documentation for the Probation Department’s Victim Notification Program, Useful Public Service, Moral Reconation Therapy, Community Service Programs, and court-ordered classes. The position also provides essential support to the Probation Division in the Municipal Court.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides victim notification after the offender has been sentenced to Probation
  • Coordinates and oversees referrals to the Useful Public Service and Moral Reconation Therapy Programs
  • Coordinates and oversees the Community Service Program and provides court ordered class referrals
  • Maintains computerized statistics on all programs
  • Coordinates and oversees the In-Home Detention Program and notifies the Probation Officer and/or the City Attorney’s Office of any substantial violations
  • Responsible for gathering Discovery for the City Attorney’s Office on all Probation cases scheduled for court
  • Assist with applications for financial assistance program in Probation
  • Cross train with other administrative positions within the Probation Department
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • Will handle CJIS related information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • One (1) year of experience working in a probation, court or office setting
  • Knowledge of the Colorado Victim Rights Statutes

Licenses And Certifications Required:

  • Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification required within six (6) months of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Essential duties performed primarily in an indoor office, public area setting or court room environment.
  • This position requires your duties to be performed in person as it is not eligible for remote work unless authorized by the Court Administrator.
  • Ability to work any hours Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Physical Demands:

  • Light physical work that involves moving no more than 10 pounds at a time
  • Clear vision to read and interpret reports and other written documents
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:

  • Works primarily indoors but may work outdoors assisting with a program or outreach events in varying weather conditions
  • This position requires your duties to be performed in person and is not eligible for remote work, unless authorized by the Court Administrator.

Equipment Used:

  • Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email, internet, Word, Excel
  • This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
