Children’s Literacy Network (CLN)

Are you a former or current educator passionate about literacy and looking for a flexible, purpose-driven role outside the classroom? Do you thrive on autonomy, collaboration, and the chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families? Join Children’s Literacy Network (CLN) and be a part of our mission to grow readers for life while working to close the early literacy gap in under-resourced communities through our engaging school-based programs.

We are seeking a Program Site Coordinator/FLIP Coordinator to help lead the on-the-ground delivery and logistical coordination of our signature programs: BookPALS and Family Literacy Interactive Program (FLIP) in Detroit-area schools. As we expand to new schools in fall 2025, your work will help shape the future of literacy outreach across Southeast Michigan.

BookPALS is a weekly reading mentorship program that brings volunteers into schools to read in small groups with students, helping them build confidence and love of reading. FLIP nights are engaging family literacy events held at schools in the evenings, where families participate in themed literacy activities, learn strategies to support literacy at home and leave with a free book at the end of the night.

What You’ll Do

As Program Site Coordinator, you’ll ensure the smooth, engaging, and mission-aligned execution of weekly in-person programs and FLIP events. You’ll be at the heart of our programming—bringing students, families, and literacy together through direct school partnerships and community engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day on-site operations of BookPALS and FLIP programming.
  • Leading and facilitating FLIP events at partner schools.
  • Creating and refining FLIP lesson activities in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Coordinating and supporting volunteer onboarding, training, and scheduling.
  • Maintaining accurate program data and documentation using digital filing systems.
  • Serving as a key point of contact for school administrators, teachers, and partner organizations.
  • Supporting program expansion efforts, volunteer recruitment, and community outreach.
  • Ensuring program processes are followed and improved upon where necessary.

What We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for a mission-driven educator ready to step into a more flexible role while still working closely with children, families, and schools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • Classroom or educational experience with preschool through 3rd grade.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who thrives in autonomous and collaborative settings.
  • Experience working in or with under-resourced communities and a deep understanding of literacy equity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in nonprofit program coordination or community outreach.
  • Skilled in working with diverse populations.
  • Bilingual or multilingual applicants encouraged to apply.
