The Arc of Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Project Manager for the implementation of the After I'm Gone/Embracing The Arc of Life initiative.  The project will assist families and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in planning for the future. This role requires a strategic thinker and skilled project manager who can bring organization and clarity to a complex, evolving initiative.

The ideal candidate must have a strong background in project management and stakeholder engagement. An “innovation” mindset is essential. The role is responsible for developing a formalized project plan, tracking progress, and ensuring smooth execution of project activities. 

This is a temporary, half-time, 6-month contract position.

About the Project

Embracing The Arc of Life: Preparing for Life’s Transitions is an initiative aimed at supporting families and individuals with IDD/ASD in planning for the future applying innovative strategies. During the initial phase it will focus on when parents or others can no longer serve as a caregiver or coach to an adult member with a disability. This project will develop a structured framework to guide families through critical life transitions, including long-term financial and care planning, community supports, and advocacy.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will lead the development, structure, and implementation of the After I’m Gone/Embracing The Arc of Life initiative. This role requires a strategic thinker and skilled project manager who can bring organization and clarity to a complex, evolving initiative. The ideal candidate does not need to be a specialist in disability but must have a strong background in project management and stakeholder engagement. An “innovation” mindset is essential. The role is responsible for developing a formalized project plan, tracking progress, and ensuring smooth execution of project activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Formalize the scope of the project after initial discovery.
• Develop and implement a project framework, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Identify and plan key activities or work streams contributing to the desired outcomes.
• Estimate costs within activities and maintain oversight of budgetary considerations.
• Identify possible barriers to activities, timelines, and outcomes, and develop strategies to mitigate these barriers.
• Establish key outcomes and quality indicators to track progress.
• Develop a summary and pitch document for use in promotion of the project to potential investors and others.
• Develop a communication plan for all stakeholders, ensuring timely engagement and updates.
• Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and presentations related to the project.
• Identify best practices and innovative solutions that can be integrated into the project model.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of project plans and activities.
• Track progress, manage resources, and adjust plans as needed to meet project goals.
• Work closely with The Arc’s leadership to align the project with broader organizational priorities.
• Prepare reports and presentations for funders, leadership, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of project management experience.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to structure complex projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with strategic planning or program development with an innovation mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while maintaining attention to detail.
• Experience with technology and communication with community stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency with Microsoft and Google applications.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Asana, Trello, Microsoft Project).
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in disability field, particularly with intellectual or developmental disabilities and autism.
