The position requires creativity and innovation to develop programs that are responsive to the needs of a diverse student population. Job responsibilities require the ability to perform independently during variable work hours that include evenings and weekends. Minimum Qualifications * Master's degree in sports management, recreation, physical education, student personnel or closely related filed. Experience operating and managing a comprehensive intramural program to include training sports officials or other sports management experience OR bachelor's degree in sports management, recreation, physical education, student personnel or closely related field and a minimum of one year experience operating and managing a comprehensive intramural program to include training sports officials or other sports management experience. * Strong interpersonal skills working with students, staff, and faculty. * Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other individuals and departments on campus and in the surrounding community. Preferred Qualifications * At least one year of competitive esports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and knowledge of League of Legends, Overwatch, Hearthstone, or similar games. * 3 years of professional experience operating and managing a comprehensive intramural sports program; and officiating certification at the high school level in a major sport. * Knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques of esports obtained through previous experience coaching at the high school and/or college level. Essential Functions and percent of time: Programming (45%) * Oversee the day-to-day operations of the intramural sports and esports programs including marketing, leagues scheduling, payroll, and personnel functions for student staff. * Develop all policies, procedures, and sport-specific rules related to intramural sports and esports. Maintain records of all league standings, sportsmanship, and participation rates for intramural sports and esports (as applicable). * Research and propose new leagues, tournaments and/or events based on student feedback and available indoor and outdoor spaces. * Responsible for attracting current and future students to the Esports program and creating systems and guidelines to govern the daily functions of the program. * Provide on-site training and evaluation of student staff. * Manage disciplinary proceedings, in coordination with the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct, as related to participation in intramural sports leagues and events * Serve as primary risk manager for areas of direct supervision. * Assist with the design and scheduling of intramural and esports calendars of events. * Assist with managing existing and developing new collaborative programming in and outside the Office of Campus Recreation. General Administration (40%) * Coordinate hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, and supervision of 40+ undergraduate employees (supervisors, officials, and intramural assistants). * Assist with the assessment, evaluation, and mitigation of risk for intramural sports programs and facilities. * Complete program evaluations and surveys to address the needs and interests of the student body and sports offerings. * Maintain participation rates and other informative data that will assist in evaluating the success of programming. * Contribute to the development and management of program budgets. * Assist with the marketing and promotion of programs and services. Essential Functions and percent of time (cont'd): Facility and Equipment Management (10%) * Coordinate schedule and maintenance for the esports room. * Collaborate with Computing and Telecommunication Services (CaTS) related to technology needs and support. * Coordinate required field maintenance and painting. * Monitor and maintain appropriate equipment conditions and inventory levels. * Coordinate intramural sports and events facility needs with internal and external partners. * Ensure the safety of participants in all areas of oversight and programs by monitoring environmental conditions.
