The mission of HomeFront is to end homelessness in Central New Jersey by harnessing the caring resources and expertise of the community. We lessen the immediate pain of homelessness and help families become self-sufficient. We give people skills and opportunities to ensure adequate incomes and to increase the availability of adequate affordable housing. We help homeless families advocate for themselves individually and collectively.
Job Summary/Objective
One of HomeFront’s core beliefs is that with the right tools, all families can succeed. Our Hire Expectations Program Manager will be the thought leader for HomeFront around the most effective ways in which we can achieve our mission in this area. The Program Manager is responsible for developing and sharing these tools to put clients on the road to success. In partnership with well-trained instructors, dedicated volunteers, community partners, and administrative staff, Hire Expectations offers multi-faceted instruction and support for long-term success. The program offers formal educational programs including on-site preparation and testing to acquire high school equivalency diplomas, resumé preparation, coaching for clients for success at job interviews, and connections with potential employers. HomeFront is also a WorkFirst New Jersey site that offers educational instruction, practical work experience, job training, and career preparation. The Program Manager is primarily responsible for the program achieving its goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to Hire Expectations team, coaching each team member to reach their individual potential, while demonstrating commitment to the delivery of high-quality programming around HomeFront’s core beliefs
- Collaborate with Director of Innovation & Evaluation and HomeFront leadership to make data driven decisions and ongoing quality improvement to programming
- Responsible for maintaining the relationship with key funders and government partners
- Maintain and build strong partnerships with state and county offices, partner agencies, corporations, educational institutions, foundations, and other key stakeholders
- Establishes partnerships and collaborations with local employers that will commit to developing employment opportunities dedicated to Hire Expectations participants
- Network with area employers, schools, and agencies to identify industry needs/trends and actively foster training/staffing relationships with area businesses
- Manage all components of WFNJ grant, including grant compliance
- Ensure programming is responsive to participants’ needs and designed to promote motivation and achievement of participant and agency goals
- Develop feedback loop with partner employers to monitor participants’ performance for the first three months of employment, and ensure support is available to the participants and the employers
- Actively seek training/partnership opportunities for program participants that will result in higher employability rates, wage increases, long-term job security, employer-funded continuing education, and desirable benefits
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with HomeFront program leaders to ensure a holistic delivery of services to meet clients’ needs
- Provide timely, accurate reports on program benchmarks and goals
- Ensure and protect agency, employee and client confidentiality
Required Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, social service, education or related field
- Knowledge of State, Trenton, and Mercer County Agencies, surrounding county businesses, organizations, and demographics
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Minimum of 3-5 years of management experience
Preferred Experience and Education
- Experience with workforce development and/or adult education program management
- Hands on experience in adult education and career counseling program delivery
- Experience with Grant Management
- Knowledge of current best practices in workforce development and adult education service delivery
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to walk up and down several flights of steps.
- Exposure to the outdoors and inclement weather is possible.
- Job operates in an office setting which routinely uses standard office equipment.
Schedule
This is primarily a day time role, but flexible scheduling may be required based on program need
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day
