Summary

Leads and grows key areas of impact with membership engagement, youth and family programming and healthy living initiatives at our Linwood YMCA/James B. Nutter, Sr. Community Center. This position is an important member of the center leadership team making a difference in the local community. As part of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, you’ll join a mission-driven team dedicated to healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.

Hiring Range $55,000 - $58,000

  • Drive program and membership growth by developing, implementing, and managing strategic operating plans aligned with YMCA goals; monitor progress and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Support overall center operations and partner with the Executive Director on community engagement initiatives to strengthen the YMCA’s visibility and impact.
  • Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and YMCA standards and regulations, maintaining a safe and high-quality experience for all participants.
  • Manage department budgets strategically, aligning financial resources with key priorities and long-term objectives.
  • Use data-driven decision-making to analyze trends, monitor performance, and forecast future financial and programmatic growth.
  • Lead and develop staff and volunteers, fostering a positive team culture focused on service, inclusion and accountability.
  • Design and deliver high-quality, member-focused programs by embracing creativity, calculated risk-taking, and responsiveness to societal, economic, and community needs.
  • Encourage innovation and recognize bold ideas, supporting a learning culture where new approaches are valued—even when outcomes are uncertain.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
  • Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality
  • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Able to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software.
  • CPR and First Aid and Oxygen certifications, training available.
    • First Aid.
    • CPRPro (includes AED).
    • Emergency Oxygen.
  • Must have reliable transportation. Travel around the Greater Kansas City area is required
