This role will forge strategic partnerships with community organizations, VCU/VCU Health faculty, and students to create impactful programs that leverage existing resources and enhance the Health Hub's offerings. The Program Coordinator will also work to increase collaboration with local and regional partners, broadening the reach and effectiveness of the Health Hub while fostering a thriving community space. This position involves close collaboration with various VCU and VCU Health departments, units, and centers to identify programming opportunities that meet community needs and provide experiential learning opportunities for students. The Program Coordinator will be part of the Division of Community Engagement and will be based in person at the VCU Health Hub at 25th, serving in an on-site, community-facing role. This position is a key member of a dynamic team that works closely with VCU and VCU Health faculty and staff, playing an integral role in advancing VCU's Community Engagement priorities. Key Responsibilities Community Programming * Develop and implement diverse programs and initiatives that address the health and wellness priorities and needs of the East End community and leverage VCU/VCU Health programming. * Ensure that programs are well-attended and enhance the overall well-being of the community. * Utilize community-engaged practices, including community need identification and data utilization, to inform programming and evaluate impact. Partnerships * Develop and expand strategic partnerships to promote innovative, community-identified programming that addresses community needs. * Navigate and engage diverse stakeholders, including VCU/VCU Health faculty, students, and community members to support meaningful collaboration. Faculty Support * Assist faculty in developing recruitment pathways and programming at the Health Hub. * Serve as a connector between faculty, community partners, and the Health Hub to facilitate collaboration and program development. * Support experiential learning opportunities for students that align with community needs and program goals. Supervision and Support * Provide supervision and mentorship to student interns and VCU students involved in experiential learning projects. * Ensure student projects align with community needs and contribute to meaningful engagement and programmatic success. * Maintain strong organizational systems, including file and database management, to support program tracking and student involvement. Communications and Outreach * Develop and implement communications strategies to engage community members and partners effectively. * Utilize basic design skills to promote Health Hub programming and encourage participation. * Ensure that communication materials reflect cultural responsiveness and community-driven messaging. Qualifications Required Qualifications * Master's degree in Social Work (MSW), Public Health (MPH), or a related field. * Extensive experience working in communities similar to Richmond's East End, applying an asset-based approach to community engagement. * Strong community networks and experience in community coordination, program development, and partnership-building. * Proven ability to develop and manage programs that align with community needs and organizational goals. * Experience supervising students and interns. * Demonstrated organizational skills, including program coordination and data management. * Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications * Experience working with a diverse group of community partners, academic institutions, and care coordination teams. * Strong ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders to bring relevant programs to the Health Hub. * Experience developing programs that align with donor priorities and funding requirements to enhance impact and sustainability. * Creative and strategic thinker with strong project and program management skills. * Capacity for communications and outreach, including basic design skills and adaptability in language and tone for engaging diverse audiences.
