The Role
Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking an exceptional leader who has a proven track record in leading young people so they can achieve their very best.
You should have the skills and experience needed to effectively lead a positive and engaged student culture, partnership with our families and support of the highly skilled staff across our College. You should be focussed on building the capacity of every young person so they are engaged and learning, resilient and socially and emotionally skilled. The successful applicant will ideally make strategic and evidence-based decisions which benefit all members of our College community.
The successful applicant will be joining a comprehensive Student Services (SS) Team who have invested heavily in establishing a strong operating framework within a positive behaviour support environment. The successful applicant will ideally have experience working with young people to understand the function of behaviour using Functional Behaviour Assessment so that we are well placed to provide strategic support where needed. Experience and a commitment to taking a trauma informed approach when working with students, families and staff will be highly advantageous.
The successful applicant will ideally be a motivated, dedicated and effective team leader who has exceptional interpersonal skills and should be proactive in implementing intervention strategies and working successfully with external stakeholders to collaboratively support student academic, health and wellbeing outcomes.
The Program Coordinator of SS will provide educational leadership across our College and community. We encourage applicants who are inspired by our College moral purpose to ‘ work together to provide effective learning experiences where we all grow and students are prepared for a successful life beyond school’. To achieve our moral purpose you will ideally facilitate evidence-based improvement strategies which support and develop positive behaviour, student engagement and academic performance, in line with our current College Business Plan.
Using your effective change management strategies, you should lead the school community to create and develop opportunities for improved service within a large SS Team. You will ideally facilitate workforce effectiveness and contribute to achieving the planned outcomes described in our College Directions Document and other operational plans. The successful applicant should be skilled in collaborating with others, leading participative decision-making and using distributed leadership practices in all aspects of your work, including developing policy and establishing and maintaining systems.
Our College
Byford SC is a newer school in Perth’s southern suburbs. We have first class facilities to support high quality teaching and learning programs in our college. This includes a new state of the art SS facility which will open for the start of 2026.
Located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD, our College caters for 1550 students in Years 7 through to 12. We offer a unique setting to many other metropolitan schools, with a blend of urban and rural students; this creates a vibrant mix of students and staff within our College community.
