Metropolitan Health Plan (MHP) is a not-for-profit, state-certified health maintenance organization (HMO) and an enterprise initiative of Hennepin County.
This Principal Office Specialist position is in Fiscal Services.
The Primary Duties And Responsibilities Of This Position Include
- Prepare and maintain reports to track health claim overpayments, reinsurance claims and other transactions.
- Maintain records, journals, ledgers and databases to include depreciation and amortization schedules.
- Reconcile financial transactions, reports and bank accounts.
- Perform and assist accounts payable staff with health claims cycle.
- Assist with departmental budget process.
- Respond to inquiries regarding financial and accounting procedures.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- One of the following:
- Three or more years of general clerical experience that includes at least two years of experience in maintaining financial and accounting records
- An approved combination of education and experience that includes at least two years of the above required experience.
- Knowledge of health claims payment and billing procedures.
- Experience using IDX system software and knowledge of Enterprise Accounting Systems and Crystal Reports.
- Experience using personal computers for email communication using Lotus Notes; and for document and spreadsheet preparation using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of internal Hennepin County mainframe accounting systems including FARS, TSO and DocumentDirect.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment and promote good working relationships with co-workers and managers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
