The Program Aide is responsible for safely escorting senior citizens to and from the YM & YWHA facility via agency-operated passenger buses. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safety, comfort, and dignity of senior clients during their transportation to and from the center.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that each client on the bus has signed their full name when arriving at the YM & YWHA and when departing from the YM & YWHA.
Assist clients in boarding or disembarking the bus by providing crowd control or physical assistance when needed. Frail individuals or persons accompanied by home attendants should be seated towards the front of the bus.
Ensure that seat belts are used by all clients.
Fold up walkers or other assistance devices and place on the bus in a secure place.
Assisting participants on and off the van lift.
Assist client in crossing any streets or intersections in order to ensure safety.
If client is not outside at time of pick-up ring client’s intercom and wait for client.
Contact senior center staff if scheduled client is not present for pick-up.
Report any incidents or occurrences to Senior Center Director immediately.
Maintain all record logs, and upload all transportation units in STARS.
Collect and record any fare contribution made by clients and remit to registrar in main office.
Coordinate transportation and trip schedules with staff members and clients.
Additional Duties
Answer phones, take messages, and greet visitors.
Support staff during daily programs, meals, and special events.
Keep accurate attendance and activity records.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Flexible schedule availability, including evenings and weekends.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer proficiency (e.g., email, Microsoft Office).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
