The City Record – The Official Journal of The City of New York is a print and online publication of notices which includes but is not limited to public hearings and meetings, public auctions and sales, solicitations and awards and official rules proposed and adopted by over 80 city government agencies (mayoral and non-mayoral). The City Record staff is responsible for the processing of all incoming notices from city agencies to be included in both versions of the publication. The City Record is published by DCAS daily except weekends and legal holidays. Production and printing of the City Record newspaper is mandated by the Charter of The City of New York.

Duties Of The City Record Production Support Associate

  • Proofreading City Record newspaper submissions and drafts for grammar, punctuation, spelling and style
  • Answering calls and assisting agency users with submission application questions/issues
  • Maintaining digital and physical files and databases
  • Prepare, send and process customer invoices
  • Assist with routine office, administrative tasks
  • Research submitted notice information to verify accuracy
  • Provide effective communication to members of the public and city agencies
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMMUNITY ASSISTANT - 56056

Minimum Qualifications

  • There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
  • Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. - Experience working collaboratively in small teams and can simultaneously handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines. - Proficiency in MS Office programs, particularly Excel and Word. - An understanding and interest in New York City policy and operations is a plus.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
