Job Description

Phat Jack Farms specializes in providing high-quality feeder insects, such as crickets, mealworms, and superworms, catering to the needs of reptiles and amphibian enthusiasts. We are committed to excellent customer service and ensuring the health and vitality of our products.

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee and optimize our insect breeding and production operation. The ideal candidate will ensure that our products meet quality standards, production schedules are maintained, and operations run efficiently with budgetary constraints.

Responsibilities

• Materials Resource Management Implementation Lead: Lead and drive the successful migration of production data into a materials resource planning tool
• Operational Work Instructions: Drive the development and utilization of operational standards to include work instructions
• Production Oversight: Manage and coordinate all aspects of insect breeding, rearing, and processing to meet customer demand and quality expectations
• Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate production staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement
• Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control protocols to ensure all products meet established health and safety standards
• Scheduling and Planning: Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring timely fulfillment of orders and optimal resource utilization
• Budget Management: Prepare and manage production budgets, striving for cost-effective operations without compromising quality
• Inventory Control: Oversee inventory levels of live products and supplies, coordinating with procurement to maintain necessary stock
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement strategies to increase productivity and efficiency
• Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies, particularly concerning animal welfare and environmental standards.
• Reporting: Updates relevant operational reports to include key performance indicators while managing gaps on a regular basis with direct team members & designated management team
  
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in biology, agriculture, business administration or related field is preferred
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in production management role, preferably within the agricultural or insect breeding industry
  
  

SKILLS:

• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Proficiency in budgeting and cost management
• Proficiency in production planning tool(s) and Microsoft Suite
• Knowledge of quality assurance protocols
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements
• Familiarity with relevant insect breeding & production compliance & regulatory requirements
  
  

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This position requires hands-on involvement in production areas, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and conditions typical of insect breeding environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that involve standing, bending, and reaching
