Summary

Food Production Supervisors oversee an assigned food production area. Supervisor is accountable for the production of outputs and daily operating activities. Production Supervisor is expected to understand goals and costs while constantly driving out inefficiency and seeking to improve processes Recommends hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluates performance, schedules staff and adjusts time system punches. Production Supervisor maintains a positive attitude, serves as a mentor and coach to direct reports and general areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Responsible for on time startup and correct shutdown of production in assigned department or area
  2. Leads and directs the work flow of multiple areas supervised by direct reports.
  3. Responsible for safety of employees and seeks solutions to prevent unsafe acts or hazards in areas.
  4. Communicates within or between departments to coordinate operations and activities to meet internal and external delivery demands.
  5. Responsible for investigating and completing documentation associated with employee accidents and injuries as described in SOP.
  6. Ensures compliance with production, safety, sanitation, quality standards and procedures, including an understanding of CCP and Operational limits.
  7. Maintains working knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and statutes applicable to the operation, and works with governmental agencies, including USDA representatives, to minimize disruptions to production as a result of noncompliance.
  8. Responsible for controlling all labor, overtime and productivity efficiencies based on standard staffing.
  9. Assures coverage of operators, gatekeepers, and other key positions in times of absence, vacations, and turnover.
  10. Facilitates cross training of key positions
  11. Able to read, understand, identify and communicate schedules, standards, procedures, processes, and recipes to employees, with the ability to make adjustments as needed and communicate accordantly
  12. Provide knowledge and mentorship in applying basic lean concepts, i.e. 5S, standard work, time observations, Root cause & corrective action etc.
  13. Responsible for all documentation related to area assigned.
  14. Ability to learn & train cross functionally throughout all production areas (i.e. low risk, deli, produce, hot kitchen & assembly).
  15. Able to investigate and address employee performance and behaviors with corrective action.
  16. Coordinates and executes employee schedules set by Production Manager
  17. Able to investigate, communicate, document, and mediate employee complaints.
  18. Position is expected to promote food safety and quality culture and being engaged in its performance.
  19. Position is expected to participate, when required, in CAPA activities related to audit findings (internal and external), customer complaints, verification and validation activities and process deviations.
  20. Provides coverage for Production Manager when necessary.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Associates degree or equivalent food production experience
  • Safety and sanitation certifications
  • 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience
  • 3-5 years of food prep, production or equivalent experience
  • Freshly prepared food manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful
  • Ability to adapt & manage change




PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Frequently moves product weighing 50 pounds. Often exposed to 30 degree to 40 degree refrigerated environments.Frequently communicates with employees and/or external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
