  • 3rd Shift: Sunday night - Thursday night 11pm-7:30am

Job Summary

Manage the operational execution of the value streams with overall responsibility for production execution and shipping/receiving to safely deliver quality products, on-time, while minimizing costs. Lead staff to achieve all safety, quality, productivity, customer service and cost targets. Responsible for all value stream metrics, adherence to plant policies/procedures, and the continuous improvement to achieve measurable results.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Daily Production Guidance (70%)

  • Comply with and lead all requirements of Blommer health & safety policies and procedures as well as all federal and government regulations including OSHA, Ontario Health & Safety Act & Regulations.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate value stream activities ensuring work assignments are accomplished meet production goals and scheduling demand. Partner with customer service and production planning/scheduling to meet customer demand.
  • Provide guidance and training to ensure company policies and procedures, including safety, HAACP, GMP, allergens, are complied with and that plant work rules are enforced.
  • Address violations, document as required, communicate with and seek support from Production Manager, Human Resources, or management.
  • Create seamless communication across all value streams ensuring daily production is accomplished and weekly planning is achieved.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to review production needs, goals and to seek resolution for issues. Engage staff to solve problems and identify ideas for improvement; utilize CI and lean manufacturing tools to evaluate and implement improvements.
  • Conduct initial incident investigations, complete paperwork and issue notification to management team for all safety issues, near misses, spills or food safety incidents; support the investigation and corrective action process.
  • Maintain operations data and prepare reports, evaluate production metric results; attend production update meeting and discuss issues that impacted the data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve downtime issues; work with engineering, maintenance and sanitation departments in required maintenance and sanitation of equipment and facilities; issue work orders for equipment malfunctions or repairs.
  • Analyze production data to determine opportunities for improvement, root cause, and capabilities to meet new opportunities.

Employee Relations (30%)

  • Demonstrate positive leadership practices including setting clear goals with employees and providing regular feedback; complete annual performance reviews.
  • Maintain a positive employee environment; resolve operator conflicts, problems, complaints as they occur seeking assistance from Plant Manager and Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Ensure implementation and effectiveness of new hire training, and cross training; train on revised SOP procedures for your assigned area.
  • Ensure implementation of training is successful and timely; provide feedback to both trainer and trainee; follow up with training documentation and submit to HR or appropriate department for record retention.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, assigned, and directed

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Education/Knowledge: Bachelor's degree or Associates degree and equivalent experience
  • Experience/Skills: Two years manufacturing supervision experience with production floor experience; food manufacturing experience preferred. Knowledge and application of lean tools, statistical tools, root cause analysis, failure mode & effect analysis. Good computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Excel
