Summary

2nd SHIFT - 3:30 PM TO MIDNIGHT


OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

Supervises manufacturing activities for 2nd shift operations.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION:

  • Assigns scheduled work to off shift personnel at start of shift, and follows up periodically to see that assignments are carried out.
  • Inspects all machine set ups periodically and supervises activities of personnel.
  • Assures plant and ground security during shift.
  • Regularly inspects quality of work produced by all other assigned personnel and production is in accordance with proper procedures and methods. Sees that certain controls, such as thickness checks, treatment content, length and width are accomplished in accordance with established procedure.
  • Coordinates activities closely with other Shift and Group Supervisors to expedite orders as needed for on-time deliveries.
  • New Hire Training
  • Participates in evaluations of all personnel on their shift.
  • Conducts performance reviews in a timely and motivating manner.
  • Processes daily paperwork.
  • Performs special activities to prepare for the next day’s operations or to perform certain production jobs to overcome temporary capacity problems.
  • Responsible for maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping for their personnel.
  • Monitors employee’s productivity and, when necessary, corrects deficiencies. Strives to meet productivity goals.
  • Monitors employee’s attendance and takes corrective action based on Company policy.
  • Alerts Fabrication Manager to manpower needs and problems.
  • Coordinates employee’s Paid Time Off.
  • Creates and investigates First Injury Report for employee’s injury on the job.
  • Work with Production Control & Epicor to look ahead to see future orders are in place.
  • Provide associate coaching and development and resolves associate’s issues through problem resolution.
  • Support and assist Fabrication Manager in developing department performance metrics including maintaining metric once developed.
  • Support STOP training and safety.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


COMPETENCIES/SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING PREFERRED:

  • Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or Equivalent
  • Required – High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required – Minimum of 3 – 5 years experience in manufacturing/production
  • Required – Minimum of 3 years experience in a leadership role
  • Preferred – Experience with Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Preferred – High Competency with Process Improvement
  • Preferred – High Competency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM Applications
  • Preferred – Experience in Inventory/Materials Management
