Food manufacturer in the Bedford Heights, OH area is seeking a Production Supervisor for their 1st shift operations. This person is responsible for overseeing daily production operations within their food manufacturing facility. This role ensures that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all quality standards, food safety regulations, and company policies. The Production Supervisor will lead and motivate a team of production employees, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes.
Responsibilities
Supervise Production Team:
Directly supervise and manage a team of production employees, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production schedules.
Train and onboard new employees on production procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
Manage Production Operations:
Monitor and ensure adherence to production schedules and targets.
Oversee the operation of production equipment and machinery, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to operating procedures.
Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency.
Ensure the timely and accurate completion of production records and reports.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Logistics) to ensure smooth production flow.
Maintain Quality and Food Safety Standards:
Ensure strict adherence to all food safety regulations (e.g., GMPs, HACCP, SQF, BRC) and company quality standards.
Monitor product quality throughout the production process and take corrective actions when deviations occur.
Participate in quality audits and implement necessary improvements.
Maintain a clean and organized production environment.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Conduct safety briefings and training as needed.
Identify and address potential safety hazards.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
Participate in problem-solving initiatives and implement solutions.
Contribute to the development and implementation of new production processes and technologies.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with production team members, other supervisors, and management regarding production status, issues, and improvements.
Conduct regular team meetings to provide updates and gather feedback.
Prepare and present production reports as required.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., GMPs, HACCP).
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read and interpret production schedules and technical documents.
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
