KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage personnel, training, job priorities, scheduling, and inter-departmental collaboration for all production operations to achieve ever-greater efficiency and reduce days on the floor per job
  • Lead and cultivate a cohesive production team; select, develop, and train new employees; prepare and administer employee performance reviews and determine goals for each department
  • Act as a liaison in meetings and planning sessions with engineering to ensure smooth transitions between the engineering process and the fabrication and assembly process; work with engineers to schedule jobs for maximum efficiency and quickest turnaround possible
  • Contribute to leadership meetings to identify company-wide priorities, determine job scheduling, troubleshoot, etc.
  • Conduct Daily Shop Meetings to set job priorities for the day, evaluate the progress of jobs, and anticipate possible problems
  • With input from department leaders, schedule flow of jobs through production for optimal efficiency; monitor progress throughout the day to ensure standards for timeliness and production value are met; solve problems potentially affecting ability to achieve on-time shipments; make necessary adjustments to priorities throughout the production floor to accommodate hot jobs
  • Maintain the jobs' date
  • Make daily notes for shop meeting after review of status of current jobs
  • Update the system to reflect shipped jobs, new jobs, job status changes
  • Review ERP system
  • Supervise daily and monthly maintenance of equipment and update maintenance calendars to reflect maintenance completed and maintenance upcoming
  • Encourage improvements in tools, machining, and process; implement change to benefit overall production operations


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year technical degree is preferred; high school diploma is required
  • 5+ years of previous manufacturing experience is required
  • Attitude: Strong desire to succeed as part of a team; interest in contributing to a positive company culture
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to keep peers and direct reports motivated, resolve conflicts skillfully and professionally, and make difficult decisions under pressure
  • Critical Thinking and Decision-Making Skills: Ability to foresee and correct potential problems using good logic and reasoning; able to identify strengths and weaknesses of approaches to problems and potential solutions
  • Administration and Management: Familiarity with business and management principles involved in strategic planning, production methods and coordination of people and resources
  • Communication and Problem Solving: Ability to identify problems and review related information with colleagues to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Mechanical Skills: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Technical and Design Skills: Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, lean manufacturing principles, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of parts
  • Computer Skills: Ability to navigate and use a desktop computer, including Microsoft 365 and ERP system
