Job Title: Production Manager & Quality Control (QC) Manager

Department: Production & Quality Control

Location: Nigeria

Reports To: Operations Manager / Plant Manager

Salary: $2,000 - $3,000


Job Summary:

The Production Manager and QC Manager will oversee the production processes and ensure that all products meet the required quality standards within the petrochemical manufacturing facility. The role is integral to improving operational efficiency, ensuring product quality, managing production teams, and maintaining strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:


Production Management:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the production facility, ensuring timely, efficient, and cost-effective production of petrochemical products.
  • Monitor production schedules, adjust as necessary to meet customer demands while optimizing resources (manpower, equipment, materials).
  • Coordinate with other departments such as Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless production processes.
  • Ensure that all production targets (quantity, timelines, and quality) are consistently met.
  • Manage production resources including raw materials, personnel, and equipment to meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular meetings with production teams to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks or challenges in the production line to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Lead and train production team members on best practices, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain production reports, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure the production area is compliant with environmental and safety regulations.


Quality Control (QC) Management:
  • Oversee all aspects of the quality control processes within the facility, ensuring that all products comply with the company’s quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and improve QC procedures and testing protocols to meet industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of production processes, raw materials, and finished products to ensure adherence to quality guidelines.
  • Coordinate with R&D and Production departments to resolve any quality-related issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, local regulations, and industry best practices for quality assurance and control.
  • Develop and manage a robust QC documentation system for tracking quality performance, test results, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Provide feedback to the Production Team regarding any quality issues and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for QC inspectors and production staff on quality control processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming raw materials is in compliance with the company’s standards.


Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE):
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all production and QC activities.
  • Promote a safety-first culture within the production and QC teams.
  • Identify safety risks and implement safety measures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all production processes comply with environmental regulations and sustainable practices.


Other Responsibilities:
  • Manage and motivate a diverse team, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for production and QC departments, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, new technologies, and process improvements to recommend innovations for production processes.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in production management and quality control within the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of petrochemical processes, manufacturing technologies, and quality control standards.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or other relevant quality management systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of HSE regulations and their implementation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with production management software and quality control tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical quality control and process optimisation techniques.


Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand for long periods and move around the facility.
  • Occasional lifting of materials (up to 25kg).
  • Availability for occasional overtime or weekend work as needed.
