Tesla has an immediate opening for a Production Engineering Manager to join the leadership team at Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada. We are seeking an energetic, skilled, cost-conscious, team-oriented individual to be responsible for the performance of an equipment and process engineering team. The incumbent will manage a team of engineers responsible for equipment and process related metrics related to manufacturing of Tesla products. The team will drive improvement in overall equipment efficiency and factory yield. Improvement activity will be driven through documented actions with clear due dates and expected results. The engineering manager will performance manage their team to generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability.
What You'll Do
Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams’ safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operationsClearly define expectations for the engineering team which improve overall manufacturing line performanceDrive improvement activities from inception through closure using the engineering resources on their teamFocus on movement of process and equipment related metrics in the positive directionInnovate processes and procedures to streamline production activities on the production floorPush the team to adhere to strict 5S standards and maintain cleanliness on the floor and within automation cellsProvide support for new equipment installation, startup, and hand overImprove preventative maintenance activities to decrease overall downtimeObserve all safety policies during the execution of required tasksCollaborate with manufacturing engineering and controls teams to install and troubleshoot new processes and equipment
What You'll Bring
Understanding of general manufacturing processes, automation, and controlsMust be adaptable in work schedule (including compressed work week and night shift) and working environment Effective verbal and written communications skills along with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritizationCapable of provided constructive feedback to subordinatesAble to drive engineering problems to true root cause and eliminationMaintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary informationMultitasks and adapts to constant changeAble to use Microsoft Office softwareAbility to sit, stand, and/or walk for 10 or more hours per day, wear air purifying respirator as needed for specific tasks, lift at least 10 -20 lbs on a regular basis, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and sometimes may have to twist and bend body, ability to climb ladders/stairs, work in loud environment4 years of college or equivalent work experience
