Description
The Judge Group is currently seeking a Product Engineer (Metallurgy or Material science degree) in the Downey, CA area. The right candidate for will have a Metallurgy or Material science degree. 3 to 5+ years experience working in a metal (Castings / Forgings) plant is preferred.
COMPENSATION: 110k to 140K plus bonus and extensive promotions potential
MUST BE: A US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
MUST HAVE: Bachelors or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent
MUST HAVE: 3-5+ years of industry experience in the Castings or Forgings industry
MUST HAVE: Knowledge of hot forming methods
Responsibilities
- Develop procedures and specifications for the processes used and the products purchased for forgings.
- Review production and operating reports and resolve operational and manufacturing problems
- Optimize quality and minimize cost
- Ensure contracts and purchase orders meet technical and quality requirements
- Perform traveler, drawing and specification reviews
- Review RFQ’s and ensure they meet Metallurgy and Quality standards
- Provide technical support across operating departments (Inventory Control, Sales, Quality Control & Heat Treat)
- Investigating and troubleshooting production challenges
- Review and approve all new processes and process changes prior to production release
- Analyze IDR’s (Inspection Deviation Reports) for root cause and corrective actions
- Review all metallurgical test failures
- Develop failure prevention plans
- Assist in the preparation of FAI (First Article Inspection) forging cut-up reports
- Generate internal procedures and supervise through the library
- Assist Sales in investigating customer issues
Requirements
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent
MUST BE: A US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
- 3+ years of industry experience in the Castings or Forgings industry
- Knowledge of hot forming methods
- Experience with testing and data analysis, microstructure and mechanical property correlation
- Some knowledge of NDT (Non-destructive testing) methodologies
- Ability to design experiments and write test plans
