Role Summary

The Product Manager is responsible for optimizing and managing the processes related to specific product lines as directed, ensuring operations are efficient and effective to align with the company’s strategic goals. This role includes strategic planning, process optimization, contract management, and collaboration with various departments to streamline processes, grow product line profitability, manage supplier contracts, and support the overall supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities

Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Manage the product lifecycle from development to delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective product development and new product initiatives
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain to ensure product availability and quality
  • Manage product modifications and updates based on market feedback and performance data
  • Act as a product line Sdm ubject Matter Expert by having a deep understanding of product attributes and applications
  • Monitor process performance and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal operations
  • Manage product line budgets, forecast sales, and analyze financial performance to ensure profitability
  • Analyze cost drivers and propose strategies to reduce overall logistics and operational expenses
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Manage profitability by analyzing financial performance and implementing strategies to maximize profit
  • Handle dead/overstock inventory to minimize losses and optimize stock levels
  • Monitor turns to ensure efficient inventory management and product flow
  • Conduct pricing and term negotiations to maximize product line profitability and drive additional revenue and profit generation.

Process Optimization

  • Drive product innovation by identifying new technologies, materials, and processes that can enhance product offerings
  • Analyze and evaluate existing processes to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and execute product roadmaps to grow revenue and margins while meeting market and customer needs
  • Lead market research and competitive analysis to uncover trends and propose impactful new opportunities
  • Conduct market, industry, and competitive analysis to develop specific value propositions for the assigned portfolio and ensure competitive market alignment
  • Champion continuous improvement of product management processes and act as a cross-functional leader
  • Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Facilitate cross collaboration among sales, operations, finance, and marketing teams to optimize processes

Contract Management

  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing contract terms and conditions to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Identify potential risks and provide recommendations for mitigation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all contracts, amendments, and related documents
  • Support the execution of contracts by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Monitor contract performance and compliance with agreed terms and conditions
  • Assist in tracking key contract milestones and deliverables
  • Assist in resolving contract-related issues and disputes in a timely manner
  • Communicate contract-related updates and information to relevant stakeholders
  • Manage contract negotiations and ensure favorable terms for the company

Customer Focus

  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to drive continuous improvement in product offerings
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with customers regarding product updates, delivery schedules, and any issues
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop customer-centric strategies and promotional activities
  • Implement strategies to enhance customer experience
  • Address and resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and effectively
  • Engage in commercial transactions to ensure customer satisfaction and drive sales

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to optimize product flow, drive process improvements, enhance product offerings, reduce costs, and improve delivery times
  • Provide support to the sales force through management of technical support resources, identification of target markets/accounts, and support on customer calls
  • Effectively manage and communicate product launches, product changes, and product promotions both internally and externally
  • Work with sales, operations, finance, and marketing teams to ensure alignment and collaboration

Inventory Management

  • Work with Demand Planning Manager(s) to identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints
  • Provide feedback to buyers regarding inventory position
  • Optimize fill rate to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor and manage dead/overstock inventory, track inventory turns, and ensure data accuracy/integrity

Data Analysis And Reporting

  • Analyze financial, operational, and commercial performance to optimize product strategy and achieve business goals
  • Collect and analyze data related to product performance, supply chain efficiency, and market trends
  • Prepare reports on process performance, including key metrics and improvement recommendations
  • Manage and oversee the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of master data across all supply chain systems
  • Manage performance metrics to track and improve product and process efficiency

Marketing And Strategy Implementation

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote product offerings and drive sales
  • Implement and execute strategic plans to achieve business goals and enhance product performance
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities for growth
  • Develop pricing and reserve strategies to optimize revenue and profitability

Work Experience

Qualifications & Skills:

Essential

  • Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with supply chain processes, including procurement and logistics, and a proven track record of optimizing processes and driving operational efficiency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in project management and financial analysis
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Strategic thinker with a customer-centric approach
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience in the redistribution or distribution industry

Work Environment

  • The role is primarily office-based with standard working hours. The office features modern amenities, collaborative workspaces, and technology to support remote work and virtual meetings
  • The role requires occasional travel to meet with customers, suppliers, and attend industry events. Travel may include domestic and international destinations, depending on business needs
