What The Job Is All About

This role will be responsible for managing Biolog’s instrument product lines, and associated software, and defining new products and features. These products are a key part of the overall company portfolio, which also includes consumables and laboratory services. The ideal candidate should have exemplary communication and interpersonal skills to interface with every function within Biolog and with our customers. They will translate Voice of Customer (VOC) to sales, marketing, and product development, and define a strategy to increase and broaden adoption of Biolog products in our primary markets. This position will report directly to the VP of Marketing.

Requirements

What the Job Requirements Are

  • Be the ambassador for and the owner of the Biolog instrument and software product lines.
  • Review the current portfolio and identify opportunities for improvement and new products and features to address key market segments.
  • Work with the VP of Marketing and the rest of the product team to ensure new products support our growth strategy, and function within the Biolog ecosystem.
  • Work with the leadership team to continually refine our strategic roadmap using market analysis and Voice of Customer.
  • Work with Product Development to scope projects in terms of requirements, resource needs, and timelines.
  • Provide product lifecycle planning and communication within the company.
  • Develop internally and externally focused go-to-market plans and training and sales materials for product launches.
  • Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and directly contribute to ensure all projects complete on agreed timelines.

What You Offer

  • Two to four years’ relevant experience in product management or a pre-sales applications role, with experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on complex problems in life science.
  • Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related field with a microbial focus is preferred; deep technical expertise in microbiology is a must.
  • Experience with bioinformatics and analyzing multi-dimensional datasets is highly preferred.
  • Intellectual curiosity to expand your understanding of ever-evolving technological applications and customer segments.
  • Critical analysis skills to identify key problems and solutions in order to make the best decisions for customers and your product lines.
  • Goal-oriented attitude to support the sales team in their revenue goals and support internal teams to launch products fully-featured and on time.
  • Time management and prioritization skills to keep up with customer feedback, sales support, and internal product development.
  • Ability to distill complex concepts into practical materials for internal and external use.
  • Ability to work well across multiple disciplines and personalities. Teams can include engineers, scientists, and operations and commercial personnel.
  • Ability to provide input on value propositions for products and technical content for marketing materials.
  • Travel will be required for conferences and key customer interactions (~20%).
