Product Launch Test Engineer

Summary

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the production launch process, blending expertise in test engineering and
manufacturing. You will work alongside cross-functional teams to establish robust testing specifications, optimize
testing processes, and ensure seamless scaling of production. Your contributions will directly impact the performance
and quality of Rivian VW Technology group’s cutting-edge electronic modules, ensuring successful launches from
Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) to high-volume manufacturing at our contract manufacturing partner locations.

 

  • Establish production testing specifications for feasibility and scalability.
  • Define and drive the industrialization of ECU flashing processes
  • Work with main stake holders in the completion of PFMEA, PPAP; and optimize testing processes for
    volume manufacturing.
  • Proactively Identify high risk areas in production and engineering design cycle.
  • Work with contract manufacturers and internal stake holders to perform DFT analysis and optimize at all
    levels.
  • Identify, root cause, and track issues, working closely with Design Engineers to implement necessary design
    changes during production and vehicle launch.

Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in the development, build and commissioning of test equipment for electronic
    modules; including development of ICT and EOL testers and programming stations.
  • 5+ years experience in HW cloud data products and storage data array for cloud companies such
    as aws or others. Experience with communication protocols such as Controller Area Network
    (CAN) and TCP/IP.
  • Proficiency in ISP programming using JTAG/DAP protocols.
  • Strong background in the development, implementation, and sustainment of test procedures for
    high-volume production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with production testing capacity analysis (e.g., installed vs. planned capacity,
    OEE).
  • Expertise in failure analysis of electronic modules and identifying root causes of failure in complex
    systems.
  • Experience in automotive, semiconductor, or consumer electronics industries.

  • Forward-thinking, with the ability to propose and evaluate new or improved manufacturing test
    methods.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to drive and sustain supplier manufacturing test processes to the
    highest standards.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, oversee multiple projects simultaneously, and create clarity in complex
    situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with cross-
    functional teams and external partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for exceeding expectations and meeting deadlines.
    Proficient in working with hardware, electrical, and software engineers to optimize PCBA (Printed
    Circuit Board Assembly) tests.
  • Solid understanding of technical documentation, including data sheets, wiring diagrams, and
    system specifications.
  • Proficient in using data analysis tools such as *.CSV and *.TXT files for performance tracking and
    issue resolution.
  • Strong documentation practices for tracking issues, changes, and test results.

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Experience with automotive diagnostic protocols (e.g., UDS, XCP).
  • Experience in high-rate production environments, especially working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) on PCBA production.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments (NI) TestStand for automated testing.
  • Experience with chip-level programming.
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW and Python programming for test automation.
  • Deep understanding of the automotive PPAP process and its application in production.
  • Expertise in working with instrumentation over various buses and protocols (e.g., USB, VISA, GPIB, Ethernet, RS-485).
  • Experience working with modular test instruments and I/O systems (e.g., PXI, cDAQ).

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel to contract manufacturer locations as needed to support test
    development and production activities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
