As a Product Design Engineer, you will take a critical role in developing hardware systems for Smart Glasses products. You will become part of a team exploring developing concepts through prototyping and into mass-production consumer electronics. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration and curiosity in domains other than mechanical engineering. Our ideal candidate has strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, CAD fluency, and manufacturing process knowledge.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta Understanding of material properties, including plastics, metals, adhesives, and glass Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and statistical tolerance analysis techniques Experience with high-volume manufacturing techniques (e.g., injection molding, machining, 3D printing, die-cutting, etc) Demonstrated understanding of mechanical constraints systems, part tolerancing, and assembly stackups Experience working independently, navigating ambiguous situations, and driving projects forward 1+ year Experience with engineering fundamentals, including: Mechanics of Solids, Statics, Dynamics, Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, Statistics Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field Co-op or internship experience in product design and development, preferably in the consumer electronics industry Experience with NX CAD or similar software Familiarity with industrial design principles Strong problem-solving skills, including failure analysis and statistical evaluation methodology
