Overview
The Island School, a not-for-profit organization based in The Bahamas, was founded to create and support transformational educational experiences with the vision of leadership effecting change, on the island of Eleuthera. The diverse educational initiatives, including our High School Semester and Summer Term, Deep Creek Middle School, Elementary Learning Center, and our Community Engagement and Partnerships, deliver unique educational journeys in conjunction with the authentic and meaningful work our organization undertakes in research and sustainable development at the Cape Eleuthera Institute, our research and innovation hub. We are reimagining what education is for, and redesigning how education is delivered.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Assistant supports the purchasing and supply chain within the organization, assisting with tasks like sourcing suppliers, preparing purchasing orders, receiving, inspecting all of the goods and ensuring timely deliveries.
Roles & Responsibilities
Receiving And Unloading Merchandise
- PA’s are responsible for receiving deliveries, unloading products, and verifying shipments against purchase orders.
Stocking Shelves
- Ensuring that shelves are well-stocked and organized, making it easy to find what is in storage.
Maintaining Inventory Records
- Keeping track of inventory levels, updating databases and records to ensure accuracy.
Inventory Control
- Will be involved in conducting inventory counts, identifying discrepancies, and assisting with reordering.
Organizing And Labeling
- Ensuring that products are properly labeled and organized within the stockroom or warehouse.
Customer Service
- Assist staff with locating products, check items out of stock & answering questions.
General Cleaning And Maintenance
- PA’s will also be responsible for keeping the stockroom or warehouse clean and organized.
Shipping And Receiving Duties
- PA’s will also be involved in preparing shipments for outgoing orders.
- PA will also be responsible for Freight collection from the Dock and local vendors
Safety Compliance
- PA’s must adhere to safety regulations when handling merchandise and using equipment.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office
- Capable of lifting at least 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to live in a small, remote location
- Work and live in an intentional community
