What You'll Do
System Engineer
As a Cognizant System Engineer/Technical Authority for assigned systems, coordinates configuration management activities, assesses system health and performance, and provides overall technical responsibility for plant system operability and maintenance activities. Works in conjunction with the Configuration Management program for the assigned system(s). Prepares configuration control/design change packages for tasks; evaluates the impact of proposed changes and/or modifications to approved safety authorization bases for facilities; and performs troubleshooting and improvement activities. Applies the systems and equipment expertise needed to resolve technical system and equipment issues in cooperation with other related disciplines.
Electrical positions requires knowledge of electrical systems with a preferred knowledge in one of the following: manufacturing process equipment, industrial electrical equipment, facility related electrical systems, electromagnetics, electrostatic discharge, and/or lightning protection.
Mechanical positions requires knowledge of electro-mechanical systems with a preferred knowledge in one of the following: manufacturing process equipment, industrial mechanical equipment or facility related mechanical systems.

Process Engineer
Process Engineers function as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on weapon operation processes and associated procedures. They perform duties and tasks that are vital to ensuring the reliability and integrity of the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile.
Process Engineers ensure weapon operation processes comply with customer specifications and requirements, including Design Agency requirements and safety basis requirements. Process Engineers are responsible for achieving approval for readiness assessments on new processes, including supervision during the conduct of start-up plans and ensure tests are conducted as written. They develop, maintain, and lead implementation of new weapon processes and changes on existing weapon processes. Process Engineers performs process studies and evaluations and lead efforts to resolve technical issues that may impact production, quality, efficiency, capability, and capacity. They participate and advise in training to operations personnel and maintain process description and work procedure documents.
Position may support chemical, machining, assembly/disassembly or metalworking operations in a production environment. Operations include both traditional and modern processes for chemical conversion operations, manufacturing, machining, melting, forming, welding, rolling, and heat-treating various materials and metals.

Minimum Job Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in engineering from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET.
* Recent college graduates (within 4 years of graduation) must have a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA.
* In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science/Metallurgical Engineering) with manufacturing experience ranging from two to seven years.
* Must demonstrate the ability to handle complex assignments and to have good oral and written communication skills. Must be willing to work in a production environment and be able to interact and communicate clearly with hourly employees as well as technical personnel and management.
* Requires significant amounts of time in production environments.
* Candidate must be capable of performing technical assignments requiring originality and exhibit independence in utilizing engineering knowledge and experience.
* Must be able to review and analyze data and use statistical process control techniques.
* Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings and dimensional inspection results.
* Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
* Understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment
* The ability to evaluate and provide feedback on new and proposed revisions to technical operating procedures, design drawings and requirements, and facility systems, structures, and components
* Able to make informed decisions and support those decisions to peers and senior management

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
