Responsibilities
- Conduct high-temperature sapphire and silicon crystal growth experiments using the Heat Exchange Method (HEM)
- Apply both practical and theoretical knowledge in crystal growth processes
- Operate shop equipment required for experimental procedures
- Modify existing equipment to meet experimental needs
- Document detailed procedures and results for HEM crystal growth and Fixed Abrasive Slicing Technique (FAST)
- Utilize basic mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering skills
- Provide feedback on R&D crystal growth and slicing experiments
- Perform data analysis and apply critical thinking for process development and characterization
- Operate and understand characterization equipment such as scanning electron microscopes (SEM)
- Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
