Title: Packaging Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Lexington, KY 40511

Duration: 8-months with possible temp to hire

Pay Rate: $30 to $37/hr

Job Summary:

This role focuses on implementing sustainable packaging solutions within a manufacturing environment. The position requires hands-on involvement in shipping/packaging assembly, coordination with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, etc.), and execution of the NAM Primary Packaging Roadmap. The candidate will research sustainable packaging products, lead local implementation projects, and manage tasks such as label and workstation modifications, tool procurement, and financial impact analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute packaging assembly and implementation projects.
• Conduct sustainability research and testing for packaging materials.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams for implementation.
• Lead local project teams and assist with physical setup changes.
• Analyze financial and operational impacts.
• Modify work instructions and ensure process documentation.
• Support validation, installation, and process acceptance.
• Provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years in manufacturing/process engineering (5+ preferred).
• Experience in packaging/shipping processes and SAP (5+ years preferred).
• Familiarity with kanban, new product development, and validation processes.
• Strong cross-functional, multicultural communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects autonomously.
