The Opportunity

The Process Engineering Project Manager is responsible for supporting the execution of Supply Chain and R&D group projects by developing, strategizing, and communicating actionable and robust plans. This role ensures alignment across Process Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing teams from initiation to handover, while driving the integration of supply chain strategies and ensuring compliance with Cochlear's Quality Management System (QMS) and international regulations.

Responsibilities include:

As a Process Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional projects that support the strategic goals of the Supply Chain and R&D functions. You will contribute to the end-to-end execution of initiatives by ensuring alignment, planning, and delivery across teams:

1. Project Management

  • Lead and manage moderate to complex projects from concept through to completion across multiple regions and business units.
  • Develop, strategize, and communicate robust project plans and roadmaps to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Coordinate and align activities between Process Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing to ensure seamless handover and execution.
  • Ensure that projects meet business requirements and are delivered in line with quality, time, and budget expectations.


2. Cross-functional Communication / Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

  • Lead cross-functional teams, influencing diverse stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
  • Act as a key liaison between internal departments and external vendors/suppliers to maintain alignment and progress.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and third-party partners.
  • Effectively communicate project status, challenges, and updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Serve as the focal point of contact for assigned projects and foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Escalate unresolved issues that require long-term decisions or cross-functional intervention.


3. Strategic Alignment & Continuous Improvement

  • Integrate and promote supply chain strategies throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Review and refine the Product Introduction Process (PIP) to enhance compliance, improve outcomes, and support efficient product launches.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.



Position Specific Skills and Challenges

  • Proficient in leading end-to-end technical and cross-functional projects.
  • Skilled in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical knowledge to project execution.
  • Ability to work with R&D, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Experience in evaluating and enhancing internal processes like the Product Introduction Process (PIP).
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
  • Ability to create clear presentations and project documentation.



Key Requirements;

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation).
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, Agile) is an advantage.
  • 5-10 years of project management experience in a technical or engineering environment.
  • Proven experience in leading end-to-end project planning and delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Visio.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels (technical and non-technical).
  • Analytical thinking and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities under tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while aligning with broader team objectives.
