Position Summary

Probi USA is looking for a Process Engineer to join our team at our Lafayette, CO manufacturing site. The primary responsibilities of this role will be to lead and support personnel to meet production and efficiency goals, problem solve, track and action performance metrics. A successful candidate would be self-motivated and driven to continuously improve new and existing processes. They should also be effective at both leading and collaborating with others, and capable of driving consistency, accountability, and discipline throughout the manufacturing functions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone that wants to gain skills in leading equipment commissioning, process improvements and sustainability in a manufacturing setting. This position requires proven practical engineering disciplines in a cGMP or regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Job Duties

• Lead and/or support key projects that drive process improvements in probiotic manufacturing processes.
• Lead and/or support tech transfer activities for transition from Process Development small scale to large scale production equipment.
• Identify, evaluate, select, install, qualify, document, and become SME for process / equipment need for manufacturing improvements, safety, quality, and/or compliance.
• Technical troubleshooting support for daily production to achieve performance metrics including quality support for investigations, complaints, and CAPAs.
• Assists capital project engineering during commissioning's to ensure reliable and sustainable release to operations have been met.
• Authors equipment protocols and validation testing criteria for onboarding equipment or processes.
• Equipment owner integrating process, process safety, environmental requirements, and equipment knowledge.
• Identify / implement improvement projects for capacity, product quality, raw material cost reductions, emissions / waste load reductions, process variability and process safety.
• Optimize process parameters on equipment (tablet press, encapsulator, stick pack equipment etc.) to drive process efficiency.
• Assists in equipment qualifications and developing preventive maintenance procedures.
• Ability to learn and become the SME on a variety of manufacturing equipment, such as blenders, sieves, tablet presses, encapsulators, stick pack equipment.
  
  

Company Requirements

• Experience in production environments (e.g. Pharmaceutical, OTC, Dietary Supplements, or similar industries).
• Must be able to work safely and ensure the safety of others and be comfortable around heavy equipment and be able to lift 40 lbs.
• Able to adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.
• Must be able to recognize audible and visual hazards.
• Must follow GMP, PPE, and company safety policies in the performance of job duties.
• Maintain good attendance.
• Perform other projects/ duties as assigned.
  
  

Work Experience And Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science preferably in engineering with 3-5+ years of experience or associate degree with 5- 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Be able to work independently and in cross functional teams demonstrating ability to deliver results.
• Technical knowledge of manufacturing, equipment and activities associated with process engineering; preferable experience with Design of Experiments, 6-Sigma, Quality by Design, and Tech Transfer.
• Preferable experience with Pharmaceutical, Dietary Supplements or food production/manufacturing.
• Preferable experience in cGMP regulations and quality requirements of production/manufacturing.
• Preferable manufacturing or regulatory knowledge: Understand that there are regulatory and compliance requirements for food and nutritional supplement manufacturing and that these will need to be learned and adhered to.
