Position Summary

Highly motivated Process Design Engineer sought to translate engineering leadership vision into manufacturable designs for reactors, systems, and equipment. Proven ability to perform complex calculations and collaborate across disciplines to ensure functionality, safety, and seamless system integration. Strong commitment to maintaining design documentation and providing technical expertise throughout project lifecycles.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Take input from Engineering Director and Manager to:

  • Develop detailed design packages for reactors, reactor systems, utilities, and tankage equipment, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Perform engineering calculations to determine equipment sizing, pressure drop, heat transfer requirements, and other critical parameters.
  • Collaborate with process engineers, operations, construction, HSSEQ… etc. to modify vessel drawings, and equipment layouts, and ensure designs meet process needs and safety considerations.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines (e.g., controls, electrical) to ensure seamless integration of all system components.
  • Develop and maintain design documents, including specifications, calculations, and drawings.
  • Participate in project reviews and provide technical expertise during design phases.
  • Engage outside detailed design engineering as project needs dictate.

Knowledge and Skills:

This design engineer role, ideal for a chemical engineer, requires a blend of technical knowledge and collaborative skills:

  • Engineering principles: Understanding of core engineering concepts for equipment design.
  • Process engineering: Familiarity with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Equipment properties: Knowledge of chemical equipment functionalities and limitations for selecting suitable equipment.
  • Safety regulations (HSSEQ): Understanding of safety standards for designing compliant equipment.
  • CAD software: Proficiency in using ComputerAided Design (CAD) tools.
  • Engineering calculations: Ability to perform calculations for equipment sizing, pressure drop, and heat transfer.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills to work with various engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication to convey technical details.
  • Project management: Ability to manage design documents and contribute to project reviews.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 10 Years Proven Experience in Chemical Process Design.
  • This role demands a highly skilled Chemical Design Engineer with a successful track record (1020 years) in the field.
  • Extensive experience with batch processing and custom manufacturing techniques within chemical process design.

Physical Requirements:

  • 60% Office Setting, including sitting, some bending, walking and viewing.
  • 40% Plant setting, including, bending, walking, lifting/moving objects less than 25 lbs.
