About the Opportunity.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, US / Plant Manager, The Systems & Controls Engineer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the distributed control system (DCS) and web inspection systems. This individual provides an overview of the paper machine and saturator for process variability. He or she contributes to a safe workplace and minimizes negative impacts by complying with NEC, OSHA, HSE policies, procedures, and work instructions.
The minimum salary for this postion is $70,000.00 annually plus bonus.
Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:
* Adhere to all governmental regulations (OSHA, EPA) and plant systems for ISO14001, QS9001 and ISO45001
* Adhere to all safety policies and contribute to the improvement of the safety culture at the plant through active participation in safety activities and teams.
* Monitor vibration analysis equipment, gather information, assess for any abnormalities and report outages for repairs.
* Maintain scanners, analyze data for scanner correlation.
* Perform preventative maintenance scheduled duties on various scanner components.
* Configure the DCS system
* Program and develop CAD loop drawing and logic for DCS
* Assign, develop and record input/output wiring diagrams and motor elementaries
* Tune and configure control loops.
* Support operators to solve or avoid potential problems.
* Run standards and repeatability on all scanners.
* Monitor all systems for process variation.
* Manage projects and support continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support Production Supervisors, maintenance and other departments during machine failures
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Credentials:
* Associates degree in Electrical Instrumentation or a similar field and 3+ years of related experience
* Knowledge of DCS and PLC systems.
* Computer programing, TCP/IP and network knowledge
* Experience with Metso DNA and Damatic for scanners, EWS and backup stations
* Process Control experience, preferred
* AutoCAD software experience, preferred
* Understand and follow Ahlstrom's policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Requires the ability to use multiple computer programs/systems including MS Office
* Requires the ability to work independently while fostering a team environment.
* Requires the ability to perform backups of systems, PLCs and drives.
* Requires the ability to program and edit PLCs
* Requires mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
* Requires strong written and verbal communication skills
* Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced team members.
* Lead and participate on problem-solving teams, facilitating the use of problem-solving techniques and tools.
Physical Requirements:
* Significant time spent on the manufacturing floor.
* Dedicated keyboard and computer screen work.
* The employee must possess the ability to see, hear, talk, sit, stand, walk, and use fingers to manipulate controls.
* Ability to climb ladders, to work at heights in close proximity areas.
* The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
* The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to be on call after hours to come in and help work on troubleshooting issues.
* Some travel may be required.
