Are you ready to make an impact where engineering meets automation?

We’re looking for an experienced Engineer in Process Control & Automation (PCA) to join our engineering team in CRP. This role will see you manage and maintain a wide range of automation assets critical to our operations – from PLCs and SCADA to instrumentation and network systems. If you’re a hands-on engineer with a passion for innovation and control systems, this is your chance to drive performance across one of our key UK sites.

What you will do:

You’ll play a leading role in the maintenance, development and troubleshooting of all PC&A systems on site. Your work will directly support plant availability, performance and compliance, and you’ll be a trusted expert for both shift and day-based teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosing and resolving faults in control systems and manufacturing equipment
  • Maintaining and developing Level 0–3 systems (PLC, SCADA, data acquisition, instrumentation, CCTV)
  • Administering local networks, control rooms, and operational infrastructure
  • Maintaining backups, cyber compliance, and disaster recovery for automation systems
  • Managing calibration and performance of quality assurance instrumentation
  • Supporting environmental and safety instrumentation in line with compliance requirements
  • Acting as lead engineer on minor PC&A projects and supervising internal/external contractors
  • Coordinating spares planning and the PC&A Failure Strategies Asset (FSA)
  • Supporting training of site personnel and identifying future development needs
  • Authorising and managing work permits (CAT1/2/3) for maintenance and engineering activities

What you will need:

We’re looking for a technically strong and organised engineer who thrives in a complex, safety-critical environment. You’ll need:

  • A degree, HNC or HND in Electrical, Control or Automation Engineering, with relevant experience
  • A strong understanding of control systems architecture, instrumentation, and industrial networks
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills across a range of control assets
  • Familiarity with SAP PM, permit systems, and engineering planning
  • Confidence interpreting P&ID and electrical drawings
  • An understanding of safety systems (LOPA, SIL, SIF), ISO standards, and compliance frameworks
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and support wider teams

Previous supervisory experience and involvement in compliance (e.g. COMAH, HAZOP) would be highly advantageous.
