About us Hopeful Swimming is a small business in based in Kamloops, BC. Hopeful Swimming has been providing professional private swimming lessons in the comfort of our customers' backyards since 2017. We also offer lifeguarding for private events in the area. We aim to provide services in the spirit of excellence, and that excellence in services is only possible through the foundation of our talented and highly-valued workers. That is where you come in!. We are currently expanding and look for instructors to work in Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops and the Shuswap lakes. Our work environment includes: Flexible working hours Casual work attire Growth opportunities Safe work environment As a Swim Instructor, you will drive to the homes of clients and teach fun and safe private high-quality swimming lessons to people of all ages and skill levels. For some, you will assist them with developing basic swimming techniques; for others, you will help them further enhance their strokes and swimming skills. A positive and encouraging demeanour is vital as you provide feedback to students and adjust lessons as necessary. Ultimately, your goal is to help others build a love for swimming while further developing their swimming skills by teaching them how to be safe around water. As a Lifeguard, your primary goal is to ensure swimmer safety by preventing and responding to emergencies. You will be responsible for enforcing all pool rules. You will also be responsible for reporting any unsafe conditions and record keeping of such conditions/incidents. It will be critical to constantly remain alert to the surroundings and provide oversight for the entire area of responsibility. General Responsibilities: Teach swim techniques and strokes to students of various swimming abilities using an optimistic and motivational approach. Maintain strong time organization to ensure classes start and end on time Assess the progress of students and update teachings accordingly while also updating parents/guardians as needed as to the student’s progress Assist advanced swimmers in enhancing their swimming abilities Oversee students and water environment to prevent accidents and injuries Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing pool safety rules in a fair and consistent manner Your Qualifications: Driver’s license and reliable transportation Water Safety Instructor certification or equivalent Standard First Aid certification National Lifeguard certification BC Yukon Lifesaving Society Lifegaurding Insurance Strong swimming techniques A genuine passion for the water and teaching others Excellent and practical communication skills Ability to work well independently Adaptive to a fast-changing environment Ability to work with a diverse population and people of all ages Job Type: Freelance Pay: $20.00-$50.00 per hour Additional pay: Tips Benefits: Flexible schedule Flexible language requirement: French not required Ability to commute/relocate: Penticton, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Experience: swim instructing: 1 year (preferred) Work Location: On the road Expected start date: 2023-06-01
