In order to strengthen our command of regulatory matters applicable to our Geomatics products and to make certification of products across the world a core skill. We are looking for a Principal/Staff/Senior Quality Engineer (Wireless & Product Compliance) to join Leica Geosystems, a part of Hexagon AB. The new hire will report to the Director of Quality Management & Service Hub and supports the Quality Engineering (QE) Department in establishing Wireless Compliance and Product Compliance for all Leica Geosystems products to meet different markets’ authorities for distribution.


WHAT YOU GET TO DO:


Wireless Compliance


Regulatory Expertise & Networking

  • Develop and establish expertise in Geomatics regulations, norms and standards (safety, functional safety, IEC etc) across European Union (EU), North America (NA), Japan, South Korea, China and Australia.
  • EU: Applicable Directives and Standards.
  • NA: FCC, DoE, future standards and MNO carrier compliance standards.
  • Japan: PSE, telecom standards, and MNO carrier compliance requirements.
  • Establish relationships with regulatory bodies, industry experts and internal stakeholders to stay updated on compliance changes.
  • Actively participate in technical committees active in fields of interests to our business (e.g., NBN, ISO, CEN, CENELEC, ANSI, IoT) and contribute to industry regulations and standards.


Product Compliance & Certification

  • Lead certification processes for products and applications in the EU, USA, Canada and other selected countries such as Japan, South Korea, China and Australia.
  • Lead distributing countries regulations and standards to achieve the compliance with products and applications as a member of the Leica Geosystems Singapore QE team.
  • Coordinate with the experts in Leica Geosystems Switzerland (LGS) to drive product compliance programs.
  • Provide regulatory requirements at the initial stage of new product innovation development and support our R&D and QE teams during the design, development and test processes.


Technical File & Documentation

  • Identify obligatory and voluntary norms and standards for future products and applications.
  • Build and maintain Technical File to support certification.
  • Maintain and update Technical Files of all products including new software functionalities and electro-mechanical changes.


Quality Engineering & Knowledge Transfer

  • Provide compliance support within the Geomatics Quality Engineering (GQE) team.
  • Train and upskill internal teams on product compliance standards and strategies.


Product Compliance

  • Liaise with life-cycle (LC) Project Leads, LC Quality Engineers, R&D, external laboratories and Leica Switzerland GQE to support all existing life-cycle product compliance requirements and tests.
  • Support Leica Switzerland Product Compliance Services team in Asian countries’ regulation updates, interpretations and gap assessments necessary to harmonize the regulatory strategies for continued product compliances.
  • Support LGS QE group with product compliance training and coordination to upskill the group’s knowledge.
  • Provide product compliance reports and presentations to Head of Department (HOD) and Product Managers promptly to map out the strategies needed to meet the compliance plans, test protocols and timelines.
  • Create comprehensive summaries and distribute regulatory content and knowledge through platforms such as SharePoint. Participate in national (Asia region) and international committees to represent the interests of Hexagon Geosystems. Establish and maintain both internal and external networks.


OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • A good class Bachelor’s Degree or Post-graduate Degree in Electronics Engineering with education and experience to work at system engineering level.
  • Experience in Mechatronics, e.g. robotics, analogue and digital circuitry, automotive, medical equipment or devices; large infrastructure engineering projects, e.g. construction, railway, aerospace, etc.) is an advantage.
  • At least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar position in wireless technologies, radio frequency or telecommunications, with laboratory experiences is an advantage.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Mandarin as this role requires to liaise with Mandarin speaking stakeholders.
  • Possess analytical skills and having a good insight into engineering processes, especially in system engineering and in software development processes.
  • Able to think and work both on conceptual and details levels.
  • Have a pragmatic approach and is solutions-oriented in standards interpretation.
  • Strong in devising the appropriate methods to find effective solutions for regulatory and cost issues.
  • Have strong persuasion and interpersonal skills to work with service providers, regulatory bodies, R&D, Process Engineering and Quality Engineering groups.
  • Able to develop and maintain broad internal and external networks of contacts to assure efficient cooperation and to access key resources and expertise.
  • Consistent in informing and providing feedback in a clear rationalising way.
  • Proactive in engaging projects’ expectations and deliverables.
  • Adaptable and able to travel on short notices and follow up with partners and update stakeholders after every trip.
