They play a crucial role in supporting and optimizing technology resources to meet organizational needs, enhance productivity, and drive innovation. IT contributes to areas such as technical support, system administration, networking, database management, software development, and project management.

Job Summary:
The Principal Project Manager leads large and complex projects, ensuring timely, budget-compliant delivery using PMO methodologies. This role involves developing project plans, managing risks, mentoring junior Project Managers, and driving continuous improvement within the PMO while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership - Lead large, complex projects and/or multiple projects of varying complexity and size
  • Project Execution - Achieve project objectives, completing projects on time, on budget, and in accordance with PMO methodologies
  • Scope Development - Develop project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Project Planning - Create a detailed project plan with a critical path to track progress and manage delivery
  • Risk & Issue Management - Manage risks and issues to ensure successful project delivery
  • Team Collaboration - Lead project meetings and build strong relationships with team members to foster an open, transparent environment and cultivate a strong team culture
  • Change Management - Manage scope and apply change management practices to handle changes to scope, schedule, or cost
  • Problem Solving - Guide the team through change management activities to identify, evaluate, and propose solutions to complex problems
  • Resource Management - Ensure resource availability and allocation, collaborating with IT Resource Managers to resolve issues
  • Decision Making - Make informed judgments and take necessary actions to meet project objectives with minimal guidance
  • Issue Escalation - Identify and escalate key issues to management with proposed resolution options
  • Multitasking - Manage competing objectives and communicate complex technical information clearly to various audiences
  • Communication - Communicate project status effectively in meetings and status reports, tailoring communication to audiences, including C-suite executives
  • Mentorship - Mentor junior project managers, coaching them on key project management capabilities
  • Subject Matter Expertise - Serve as a subject matter expert on departmental project management practices, methods, standards, and tools
  • PMO Advancement - Work with department and business leaders to advance PMO methodology and practices, leading continuous improvement efforts and participating in special IT department assignments
  • Accountability & Reliability - Maintain regular and reliable attendance while performing other duties as assigned to support team and business needs

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
