Principal Network Development Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with one of our premier clients, is seeking an experienced Principal Network Development Engineer with a strong focus on code-driven networking to design, implement, and optimize a highly scalable and reliable network infrastructure. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the technical vision and roadmap for networking infrastructure while mentoring junior engineers and leading large-scale network automation and integration projects.

Experience of the Right Candidate:

• 10+ years of experience in networking, system administration, troubleshooting, container services, or scripting.
• Strong experience designing, implementing, and scaling complex network infrastructure.
• Experience deploying and maintaining a Cisco ACI environment in a large enterprise or SDN equivalent.
• Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.).
• Proficiency in network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of cloud networking principles (AWS, Azure, GCP) including VPCs, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Experience with container networking and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
• Industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Juniper JNCIP/JNCIE, Alcatel-Lucent) would be preferred.
• Expertise in load balancer architecture (F5, A10, NGINX, etc.) for multi-tenant data centers.

Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable network infrastructure for production and development environments.
• Define and drive the technical roadmap for network services, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
• Work with security teams to ensure network security and regulatory compliance.
• Implement firewall and load balancing solutions, preferably in virtualized environments.
• Develop and automate network deployment, configuration, and management using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
• Drive the adoption of network automation best practices to improve efficiency and reduce manual operations.
• Build self-healing, scalable networking solutions integrated with modern DevOps practices.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure seamless network integration with applications and platforms.
• Proactively monitor and troubleshoot network performance and reliability issues.
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, policies, and procedures.
• Lead large-scale network projects, ensuring best practices are followed for scalability, security, and performance.
