Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Principal Mechanical Engineer located in Ottawa, ON. The employee will be responsible for the design of a thermally controlled shipping solution, including the structural design, thermal design, and sensor arrangement. The employee will develop all associated CAD models, will fabricate mock-ups, and will oversee the manufacture of the final design.

Project Description

This role will primarily focus on the design, manufacturing, and testing of a highly resilient thermally managed enclosure with extreme thermal performance parameters. It will involve:

• Review of project requirements
• Preparation of mechanical and thermal specifications
• Extensive CAD design (including structural design, aesthetic design, thermal components, wiring, and electronics placement)
• Working with vendors to select appropriate materials and thermal components
• Selection of a vendor for manufacturing of the final design
• Validation and testing of the mechanical and thermal properties of the resulting product
• Installation of wiring, electronics, and power components

Qualifications

• Extensive experience (10+ years) of mechanical engineering and fesign skills
• Extensive experience (10+ years) of experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools
• Extensive experience (10+ years) with thermal management and modeling
• Experience with integration of electrical components into structural designs
• Experience with safe placement and integration of high-power electronics components

Preferred

• Experience with thermoelectric coolers (TECs)
• Experience with mechatronics engineering
• Hands-on experience with fabrication tools, including waterjets, CNC machines, 3D printers, etc.
