Position Overview:

We're seeking an experienced Principal Engineer in our London office to lead the technical design, innovation, and delivery of retractable pitch, roof, seating, and other kinetic architecture projects. The Principal Engineer will drive engineering excellence, guide multidisciplinary teams, and create pioneering solutions that redefine large-scale sports and entertainment venues worldwide.

Job responsibilities:


  • Lead the engineering design and technical delivery of projects.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, designers, and cross-disciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative and practical kinetic solutions.
  • Oversee detailed design processes, including mechanical analysis, structural assessments, and material selection.
  • Provide expert technical leadership, mentoring engineers and supporting continuous learning within the engineering team.
  • Ensure compliance with global engineering standards, industry best practices, and rigorous quality control procedures.
  • Engage directly with clients and stakeholders, clearly communicating complex engineering concepts and project statuses.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry developments, incorporating cutting-edge innovations into ARX’s projects.


Job requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional qualification.
  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Expertise in mechanical and design, including experience in analysis software and engineering simulations.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
