We are currently seeking a Principal Global Demand Planner within the Global Supply Chain organization. This position is an exciting and new opportunity to work with Medtronic’s Neuromodulation & Pelvic Health Operating Unit(s) positioned as growth business.

A Day in the Life
In this role, you will be in a leadership role directly responsible for the global demand planning activities for assigned operating unit(s). This includes analysis, reconciliation, preparation for and facilitation of the Global Demand Review step within the Integrated Business Planning process as well as follow through of the execution of IBP decisions and strategies. This position works in close partnership with Operating Unit Commercial/Marketing leaders, Finance, Regions and IBP leadership.
As a member of a highly collaborative, cross-functional team, you will support business growth and profitability objectives, including customer satisfaction and product cost management. You will influence and monitor each stage of the product lifecycle, including new product launch planning and execution.
In addition, you will assess variation within demand and supply and proactively manage alignment and communication flows. You will liaise with and coordinate across multiple manufacturing sites and distribution centers which directly impact product availability and customer service level. You will support implementation of global/regional process and systems enhancements to improve supply chain efficiency.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Lead and collaborate with regions and commercial partners to align on demand forecast in units, including both revenue and non-revenue.
- Lead in the improvement of demand forecasting accuracy for internal and external customers including determining the appropriate algorithm for statistical forecasts.
- Review & Action KPI (Forecast Accuracy, Bias and Forecast Value Add) and identify gaps and actions to improve and reach goals. This includes working with regional partners and commercial partners to understand consistent bias and/or negative forecast value add and align on actions to improve.
- Manage the monthly Integrated Business Planning cycle by providing recommendations for improvements such as data analytics on outliers, low forecast accuracy, high bias and products which need to be reviewed by regional demand planning.
- Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, compare & refine forecast models, summarize data, validate and evaluate forecast results.
- Use, understand and maintain cross-functional linkages within the organization’s demand planning software. (Blue Yonder or other ERP system)
- Provide demand consumption and forecast change highlights in weekly S&OE meeting and ensure smooth demand/supply hand-off.
- Address demand-related issues in a timely and effective manner and communicate potential solutions.
- Ensure decisions and direction from the Global Demand Review are incorporated into the plan and driven through the system to the Supply Planning team for execution.
- Maintain quality and consistency of key forecast changes.
- Incorporate structure in the daily/weekly/monthly activities of a Demand Planner to be able to streamline current processes, identify opportunities for improvement and execute accordingly so that planners can move from higher percentage of tactical tasks to more analytical and value-added activities.
- Support new product introduction. This includes helping Marketing to translate market intel into a demand unit forecast and working with regions to align and document forecast assumptions. This also includes proper phase out / cannibalization planning for existing products.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
- Supply Chain background/experience preferred: knowledge of finance, sales, marketing, regulatory, R&D and other supply chain functions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders (e.g., communicating supply chain information to a non-supply chain audience)
- Organizational skills with the ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands
- Strong analytical, data processing and problem-solving skills
- Quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs (Forecast Accuracy, Bias, Forecast Value Add, Market Share, R&Os)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint
- Familiar with forecasting/demand planning systems and tools
- Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of financial and operational impacts
- Ability to energize and influence change efforts at all levels of a complex and matrix organization through a collaborative and customer-focused work style
- Medical Device or other regulated industry experience
- Experience with large global manufacturer/distributor operations in a matrix organization.
- Institute of Business Forecasting and/or APICS certification
- Experience applying DMAIC or lean sigma methodologies

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$108,800.00 - $163,200.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
