Position Summary

Lead projects and assignments within the NDE function, providing technical leadership and expertise to ensure the successful execution of inspection, testing, and evaluation processes. Drive advancements in NDE methodologies, oversee cross-functional collaboration, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. This position is ideal for a strategic thinker with deep technical knowledge and a proven track record in NDE applications

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Project Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership on NDE-related projects and assignments, from proposing to planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery/submissions and adherence to quality standards.
  • Operational Planning: Develop and implement resource plans to meet project requirements.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide advanced technical guidance in the development, implementation, and optimization of NDE techniques (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiography, magnetic particle inspection, eddy current testing, etc.). Act as corporate Level 3 in training, consulting and project related activities.
  • Innovation and Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in NDE processes, tools, and technologies to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of inspections.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with local and global teams to integrate NDE solutions as part of project executions as well as product developments.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure all NDE activities comply with applicable industry standards (e.g., ASNT, ASME, API, ISO), regulatory requirements, and Oceaneering as well as customer specific procedures.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the NDE team.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate risks associated with NDE processes, ensuring safety and integrity of tested components and systems.
  • Knowledge Management & Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports, procedures, and documentation to support NDE activities and project outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to align on project goals and deliverables. Manage and develop excellent client relationships. coordinate and liaison with various client stakeholders to ensure stakeholder alignment through entire project lifecycle.

  • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. However, it will have technical supervision requirements/expectations.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or allied engineering stream
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in Nondestructive Evaluation, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior technical role. Application of NDT in Oil & Gas industry.
  • Certifications: Level III certification in one or more NDE methods (e.g., ASNT NDT Level III, PCN, or equivalent). Minimum 5 years since obtaining first Level III or equivalent certification.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in multiple NDE techniques such as UT, RT, MT, PT, ET, or VT.
    • Expertise in advanced NDT techniques such as PAUT, ToFD, PECA, tube-inspection, laser scanning, QSR.
    • Proficiency with NDE equipment, software, and interpretation / data analysis tools.
    • Knowledge of materials science, metallurgy, or structural integrity principles.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage cross-functional teams, and provide technical direction.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific regulatory requirements, standards and codes
Preferred

  • Experience in Subsea O&G and/or Nuclear industry
  • Background in research and development of advanced NDE technologies (e.g., phased array ultrasonics, computed tomography).
  • Exposure to / experience with NDT software (e.g., ESBeam, Tomoview, OmniPC, CIVA, TDScan), NDT simulations
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.

Additional Information

This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
