Position Summary
CoreWeave is seeking a visionary
Principal Engineer to lead the design and guide the implementation of our
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform. This is a senior technical leadership role for a hands-on expert who thrives at the intersection of distributed systems, data center infrastructure, and platform automation. You will define architecture and implementation of cross-functional engineering efforts, and ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of CoreWeave’s compute, network and storage services.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
- Own the end-to-end architecture of CoreWeave’s IaaS platform, including compute, storage, and network services.
- Design scalable, multi-tenant infrastructure that supports a range of GPU/CPU workloads across all regions and availability zones globally.
- Develop reference architectures and system designs to support rapid growth and evolving customer needs
Engineering Leadership
- Collaborate with Product teams, suppliers and customers to identify requirements for SLAs, cost and performance.
- Provide deep technical direction to infrastructure engineering teams, guiding design decisions for compute, storage, network services.
- Establish standards and best practices for cloud-native infrastructure, including observability, resiliency, security, and automation.
Scalability & Automation
- Drive infrastructure-as-code best practices and platform automation.
- Optimize provisioning systems to support seamless software updates across 100,000s of nodes and exabytes of storage.
Innovation & Vision
- Evaluate and integrate innovative technologies across hardware and software including smart NICs, RDMA fabrics, and new memory technologies.
- Contribute to CoreWeave’s long-term infrastructure strategy—identifying architectural inflection points and scaling opportunities.
- Leverage innovation in open source and collaborate effectively with open source communities.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or data center-scale architecture.
- Proven expertise designing and building IaaS or PaaS platforms at scale.
- Strong systems-level knowledge across compute, storage, networking.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Salt, or similar) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Deep familiarity with performance tuning, monitoring, and designing for high availability and failure domains.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GPU workloads, AI/ML platforms, or HPC infrastructure.
- Familiarity with cloud orchestration frameworks, bare-metal provisioning, and SDN concepts.
- Track record of technical leadership across cross-functional teams and complex infrastructure projects.
- Leadership in open-source cloud infrastructure projects.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $260,000-$300,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position also includes a discretionary bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Our Workplace
While we prioritize a hybrid work environment, remote work may be considered for candidates located more than 30 miles from an office, based on role requirements for specialized skill sets.
