Summary

The Preconstruction Manager is pivotal in ensuring the effective planning and execution of projects. This role involves verifying work scopes, coordinating project specifics, and collaborating with various teams to enhance project efficiency. Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective communication are essential for success in this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Coordination:

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all Bills of Materials (BOM) and work scopes.
  • Oversee the procurement process for project packages, securing necessary materials and subcontractor services.
  • Create detailed project shop drawings and layouts to guide field installations.
  • Work with the BIM Department to integrate project details into the model for better visualization and planning.

Estimating & Bid Support:

  • Assist the Estimating team on bid days by coordinating package details and preparing bids.
  • Manage and submit basic material submittals to ensure they are accurate and compliant.

Manpower & Scheduling:

  • Develop detailed manpower hour goals by floor area and task to optimize labor allocation.
  • Participate in project hand-off meetings with the Operations team to ensure project plans are aligned.
  • Track manpower usage throughout the project to compare with initial projections and address any issues.

Process & Documentation:

  • Review contracts to confirm scope alignment and manage risks.
  • Develop detailed and customized Foreman Handbooks for each project to provide clear guidance on expectations and procedures.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Work closely with Project Managers after hand-off to provide support, material counts, and other key information.
  • Collaborate with the Prefabrication Department and PM team to oversee the implementation of prefab elements into field installations, ensuring improved on-site efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in preconstruction, project management, or related roles in the electrical or construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, BOM verification, and material procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience with BIM coordination, shop drawings, and labor allocation strategies is preferred.
