Summary

Do you have excellent communication skills and a strong aptitude for detail and analytical reasoning? If so, we’d love to have you join the Colossal Media team as a Pre Production Technician at our shop in Brooklyn, New York. In this role, you'll be an essential part of our creative and production workflow, ensuring artwork and materials are accurately prepared and delivered to support our large-scale hand-painted campaigns. The Pre-Production Technician plays a key role in:

  • Responsibility for burning clean, legible patterns and maintaining organized, well-stocked pattern rooms to support daily production needs.
  • Coordinating artwork logistics and responds to real-time requests from the paint crew to ensure seamless workflow and timely execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the burning of patterns with a primary focus on efficiency, aiming to produce clean and legible patterns within established timelines.
  • Maintain order and ensure the constant stocking of pattern rooms.
  • Prepare artworks for mixing and job crews.
  • Handle the packing and shipping of patterns and artwork for outer market jobs, maintaining close communication with Shop and Operations for timely coordination of shipments.
  • Respond promptly to real-time requests from the paint crew.
  • Accurately document daily work, including Pattern Checklist, Mixing Checklist, Acetate Checklist, and Operations Database entries.
  • Complete an introductory Drawing Workshop to acquire foundational skills in image breakdowns of Complex Graphic and Non-Organic artwork.
  • Periodically join crews to provide assistance in pouncing patterns in the field.

Requirements:

Education and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 30 hour Construction course.
  • Background in art and/or drawing.
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design.
  • Continued Education Course: Intro to Photoshop available.

Knowledge, skill, and ability:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills, both in person and in digital workspace.
  • Must have steady hands and expert linework.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite as well as navigating a Mac.
  • Experience working in G-Suite and Slack.
  • Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Primary work environment will be indoors at the Shop location in Brooklyn, NY.
  • Occasional outdoor environment.
  • This position requires long hours on your feet.
  • Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
