Summary

Position Overview

Reporting to a senior executive leader, this individual is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a legal team focused on business immigration services. This role includes supervising a group of professionals, ensuring high performance and compliance with internal standards and client expectations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Directly manages a team of 5 or more staff members within the corporate immigration group.
  • Leads hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development for team members.
  • Provides consistent coaching and feedback, including performance evaluations.
  • Works closely with HR on employee relations, including disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Identifies and implements improvements to internal processes, using both qualitative and quantitative measures to track performance.
  • Collaborates with operations and HR leadership to introduce or refine workflows, policies, and team tools (e.g., templates, checklists).
  • Develops onboarding and training programs for new hires.
  • Oversees preparation of employment-based and sports-related U.S. immigration petitions, including (but not limited to) H-1B, TN, L-1, O-1, EB-1, E-3, PERM, I-140, I-485, and P-1.
  • Manages a personal caseload and ensures deadlines across the team are being met.
  • Monitors team activity to ensure efficiency and consistency in service delivery.
  • Responds proactively to case-related challenges and develops solutions as needed.
  • Serves as a key contact for clients, handling updates, timelines, and follow-up questions with professionalism and clarity.
  • Provides oversight on case assignment, review of documentation, and quality control across complex filings.
  • Researches complex legal issues and provides tailored guidance on unusual cases.
  • Coordinates with senior leadership to align departmental goals with firm-wide initiatives.
  • Participates in regular leadership meetings to address progress, needs, and strategy.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of best practices in immigration law and internal procedures.
  • Contributes to a positive work culture and represents the firm’s values in all professional interactions.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing of the Massachusetts Bar.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in employment-based immigration law.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, with 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
  • Strong background in U.S. immigration petition preparation and strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and implement organizational change.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
